Rainy Reminiscence

She sat by the windowpane gazing down at the glistening luminescence of the ever-bustling city of New York drenched upon with late night drizzle; the tiny droplets of rain dripped and swayed along the faintly misty sheet of glass crafting vibrant bokehs of the streetlights. ‘She will be loved’ by Maroon 5 played in the backdrop while a hot cup of cocoa rested in her hands steaming its sweet aroma around – the ambiance was all too familiar.

[Thunder rumbled]

Soaked to the skin, she wandered along the pavements of some lonely avenue downtown staring ahead obliviously. Her eyes were scorched past shedding tears with the pouring rain. Agony suddenly appeared to pale in comparison to the deadening sensation of a thousand frostbites to the heart. And an uncertain agenda or destination seemed to be such trivial issues to dwell on that instant. Why was she forsaken from the least bit of felicity? Questions and more unanswered questions kept swirling seamlessly through her mind.

Suddenly, their paths crossed in the darkness.  A gush of wind rolled in stirring the umbrella enough for his face to come to the fore. For a lone mesmerizing moment, the steeliest blue eyes she had ever witnessed glanced back reflecting her olive-green eyes.
